Vintage Engagement Rings & Antique Diamond Rings
Tiffany & Co Soleste Oval Diamond Engagement Ring 1.73ct F/VS1, EraGem Sku CN16700
Vintage engagement rings are from the 1980’s or older. An authentic antique engagement ring comes from a certain historical Era, these Eras are the inspiration for our company name: EraGem. Unique engagement rings were made using materials, tools and methods from the different time periods. Victorian Engagement Rings 1837-1900 were primarily crafted of yellow gold, the halo setting was popular, and the tradition of engagement/wedding rings became widespread. Edwardian Engagement Rings 1901-1910 featured floral patterns in ornate platinum filigree. Art Deco Engagement Rings 1915-1930’s were hand crafted with mil-grain, symmetrical, geometric, and architectural designs, and often contained colored stone accents. The Retro Era circa 1940’s saw yellow and rose gold rings make a comeback and white gold began to compete with platinum. In the 1950-1980’s Mid Century period, heirloom engagement rings became a popular choice. Many rings from these years feature older antique family stones that were reset into current styles or ones handed down from previous generations. Our selection includes many pre-owned modern estate engagement rings as well. The antique ring boxes are not included however, we do have a limited selection available here: Old Ring Boxes
Derek Hough And Hayley Erbert
The dancing couple announced their engagement on Instagram in June and from the elaborate flower-adorned, candle-lit set-up, its clear Hough went all out on the proposal. The ring itself is a round solitaire on a pavé band and was made by Paris Jewellers Canada. For inspiration, the stores co-owner, Chau Lui listened to the couples favorite song Someone to Stay.
Jennifer Lopez And Ben Affleck
The multi-hyphenate confirmed her engagement to Ben Affleck in her newsletter, On The J Lo in early April, giving us a glimpse at her extremely rare green diamond ring: An 8.5-carat cushion cut, purchased from Ilan Portugali of Beverly Hills Diamonds and designed by Rahaminov, set in a classic, platinum mounting with a trapezoid-shaped white diamond on each side.

Tiffany & Co Engagement Ring Brand

This brand cachet was built over a century and a half of more than just clever marketingit was built through a single-minded dedication to their mission to be the classiest jewelry and high-end gifts store in the world.
Tiffanys most iconic style is their classic solitaire setting . It is so iconic, Tiffany calls it simply The Tiffany Setting in their catalog. It is elegant simplicity at its finest. But in truth, it is virtually indistinguishable from options that are available elsewhere, such as this gorgeous setting from Blue Nile.
Its one of only a handful of stores in New York City that is in and of itself a destination just to see. Its so well known, most people who have never set foot in the store are probably familiar at least with the first floor layout.

The Tiffany Novo Style
The Tiffany Novo is basically a very well made cushion cut set in a simple platinum band with pavé stones on the shank. We are comparing it to this Art Nouveau pavé setting from James Allen.
My original goal was to compare the best value one carat cushion I could find on James Allen with the cheapest 1ct Novo I could find at Tiffany.
Unfortunately, I had to make a last minute shift in my strategy as the cheapest 1ct Novo they had in stock was over $22,000above the $18,000 I had prepared for this review. So on the spot, I altered my strategy to test dollars spent against dollars spent instead of size against size.

Tiffany & Co Biography And Important Works
is one of the most prominent purveyors of luxury goods in the United States, and has long been an important arbiter of style in the design of diamond engagement rings. A young Franklin Delano Roosevelt proposed to his future wife, Eleanor, with a Tiffany ring in 1904. Vanderbilts, Whitneys, Astors and members of the Russian imperial family all wore Tiffany & Co. jewels. And Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis preferred Tiffany china for state dinners at the White House.
Although synonymous with luxury today, the firm started out rather modestly. Charles Lewis Tiffany and John B. Young founded it in Connecticut as a stationery and fancy goods emporium in 1837, at a time when European imports still dominated the nascent American luxury market. In 1853, Charles Tiffany who in 1845 had launched the companys famed catalog, the Blue Book, and with it, the firms signature robins-egg blue, which he chose for the cover shifted the focus to fine jewelry. In 1868, Tiffany & Co. gained international recognition when it became the first U.S. firm to win an award for excellence in silverware at the Exposition Universelle in Paris. From then on, it belonged to the pantheon of American luxury brands.

Most Recent Tiffany Secret Shopping Experience
We have a much longer description of our first secret shopping experience where we actually purchased a ring. But I first want to touch on our most recent secret shopping experiences. Annie and I visited Tiffanys Chicago store in May of 2022.
Since our original secret shopping, we have visited several Tiffany stores around the world. In London, Belgium, New York, Los Angeles and others, weve experienced mixed results. Most notably, we were appalled at how apathetic and snobby the salesperson in LA was to us.
Our experience in Chicago was exemplary of what your experience should be. The store itself oozed class and luxury. We were immediately greeted and shown around by Alika.
I normally dont name the salesperson we worked with at a store, but Alika was an absolute delight. He was incredibly knowledgeable and was able to guide us through all the technical and fashion issues that you need to settle when purchasing an engagement ring.
We looked at several rings, all of which were stunning. With one exception all of the diamonds were in the GH color range. Alika noted how this is a sweet spot that offers the best combination of quality and value .
Each ring we saw would make someone very happy. The issue you have is value. The experience was luxurious and there is something special about that blue box. But is it worth the money? That is up for you to decide.

Unique Settings And Shapes
We can picture some emerging trends gaining even more momentum in 2023: east to west settings, for example, are proving increasingly popular for very good reason! They make for a playful but still endlessly elegant solitaire – we find that there is currently a real demand for pieces that are full of character but have an air of timelessness to them, investment pieces that will become chic future heirlooms. Asymmetrical pieces and toi-et-moi rings are also becoming a firm favourite. I’d recommend these sorts of designs if you are looking for something a bit more daring: they are great canvases for combining different types of gemstones, shapes, and colours, as well as for incorporation graphic bands and settings. They can range from the more subtle to really bold statement pieces Rachel Boston.
Interest in the super popular French inspired Toi et Moi design shows no sign of abating it is such a romantic style symbolising two people coming together as one which is such a beautiful story Emma Clarkson Webb.
The World Class Of Physical Retailers
I begin with this preface because I believe that Tiffany & Co. will be the last to succumb to this death. They are the best of the best in the world of Bricks & Mortar jewelers.
Their brand cachet is priceless. Their icons are so ubiquitous, they even have their own trademarked colorTiffany Blue.
Can you think of any other gift item where it probably matters more to the recipient whats on the outside of the box than whats in it?

Original Secret Shopping Experience
Tiffany & Co. launches engagement rings for men
On a short trip to New York City, I decided I wanted to test Tiffany on two accounts. Firstly, I wanted to see if the famed Tiffany & Co. experience was what I would have expected it to be.
Would I feel I was buying just any other product, or would I feel as if I was going through a true luxury buying experience? Would their salespeople be knowledgeable? Friendly? Pushy? Easy going? Would it be easy to return, or would I be given a difficult time?
Secondly, knowing Tiffany would be more expensive than buying online, I wanted to see just by how much. I wanted to put the best I could find online up against the best Tiffany had to offer .

Buying A Diamond At Tiffany Vs Buying Online
If youve read most other articles on this site , you probably know already that I feel that the classic model of the Bricks & Mortar jewelry store is a dying oneat least as far as the engagement ring business is concerned.
I believe there will always be a place for bricks & mortar jewelry stores, but they will, over time, leave the engagement ring business as they will eventually concede that they cannot compete.
The advantages that the best online diamond stores have over local physical operations fade away once the online store has to carry an inventory .
History Of Tiffany & Co
Tiffany & Co. was founded in New York city in 1837 as a stationery and fancy goods store. In 1853, the company was taken over by partner Charles Tiffany, and they began to focus on jewelry.
The company has been a major force shaping American culture in general. Aside from probably being the most famous jewelry store in the world, they also designed the Lombardi trophy , the MLS championship trophy, and a number of World Series rings over the years.

Avoiding State Sales Tax Purchasing Online
With online diamond sellers , you can avoid state sales tax by having the ring sent to a state where the store doesnt have a presence. James Allen, for example, only has a physical business presence in New York and Maryland. So any other state is Tax Free.
Even if you live in New York or Maryland, you can easily have the package shipped to the nearest FedEx location just over the state border marked Hold at Facility where you can go pick it up tax free.
This isnt possible with a store like Tiffany because even if they would agree to mail it to you to a different state, it most likely wouldnt matter because Tiffany has stores in many states .
Tiffany & Co Diamond Ring Packaging

Its not surprising that the packaging from Tiffany was the nicest I had ever seen to date.
This is a critical part of their branding mix . After the purchase was finalized, my sales associate brought out the elegant black ring box.
He then wrapped the ring box in folded tissue wrapping paper, and then slid the wrapped box into the famous little blue box. He then ritually wrapped and tied the little blue box with elegant white ribbon. It was clear that he went through serious training to perform this ritual to perfection.
