Geo Pomona Steps Up Waste Management in Harare: A New Dawn for the City
By Gerald Muneri
In a significant move to enhance service delivery and reclaim Harare's Sunshine City status, Geo-Pomona Holdings has recently introduced a new fleet of refuse collection trucks. This strategic expansion comes at a crucial time as Harare grapples with service delivery challenges, including the non-collection of refuse.
The arrival of these new vehicles marks a turning point for the city, with Geo-Pomona's efforts already making a tangible impact. The company's commitment to modern waste management is evident in their statement: "Our refuse collection equipment has officially arrived in Zimbabwe, and we’re excited to expand our fleet. This milestone strengthens our commitment to delivering efficient, reliable, and modern waste management for the City of Harare. We are firmly on the road to restoring its proud Sunshine City status."
The new equipment includes a diverse range of vehicles: 25 compactors, 16 tipper trucks, 10 skip trucks, and 5 sweepers. These additions are set to revolutionize Geo-Pomona's operations, ensuring faster service delivery and improved efficiency.
"The new additions will significantly enhance our operations and complement our existing machinery, ensuring faster turnaround times and improved service delivery," Geo-Pomona assured.
Delish Nguwaya, Geo Pomona's CEO, emphasized their dedication to providing world-class waste management services across the country. This commitment was further solidified when President Emmerson Mnangagwa commissioned a fleet of compactors, skip trucks, and sweepers in May, underscoring the government's support for Geo-Pomona's initiatives.
The Geo Pomona site is undergoing major transformations, with plans to create a modern, multifunctional space that seamlessly integrates waste-to-energy innovation with public engagement. This development promises to revolutionize waste management in Harare, setting a new standard for the city's future.
As Geo Pomona continues to lead the charge in waste management, Harare residents can look forward to a cleaner, more sustainable city. The company's dedication to service improvement and environmental sustainability is a beacon of hope for the city's future, marking a significant step towards a brighter, more vibrant Harare.
